Podcast in English (with intro in Italian as well): "#GazaLastDay: Stories from Palestine", broacast by Diffusione Fiaba on Radio Cavolo, 09/05/25; Production: Elena Asciutti, radio storyteller
This episode aired on 9 May - Europe Day, an occasion meant to celebrate peace, unity, and shared values across the European continent. But in 2025, 9 May also marked something deeper. It was the day of the campaign #GazaLastDay — the last day of Gaza, because time is running out. Without the world, Gaza dies. But without Gaza, something in us dies too — as humans, as Europeans, as people.
In collaboration with the World Storytelling Cafe, this powerful and moving episode features the storyteller David Heathfield who shared the microphone with young Palestinian storytellers - Besan, Farah, Mena, Nour - joining from Gaza to honour Palestine, its people and stories. Through folk tales that carry imagination and resistance, they weaved memory, courage, and humanity — reminding us of the power of storytelling as an act of witness, connection, and dignity.
This episode is both a tribute and a call — to listen, to remember, and to act. It is part of the project "Tell a Child in Gaza’s Tale" by Haneen Jadallah and David Heathfield. If you want to contribute, please choose a tale, retell it and share it around the world to return the hospitality shown from their homes in Gaza by young storytellers AND/OR donate to Mena's (one of the young storytellers in this episode) family: https://gofund.me/a9e9938e.
