When Bathsheba's baby boy became ill, David pleaded to God, fasting and praying at all hours of the night. Then, when the child died, he went to the temple and worshipped, for he knew that it was God’s doing. In 2 Samuel 12:24 we’re told, “Then David comforted his wife, Bathsheba, and went in to her and lay with her, and she bore a son, and he called his name Solomon. And the Lord loved him.”
