Description

His staccato style and high decibel descriptions of big plays are legendary as is the man himself. Marv Albert is retiring after the NBA’s East finals following a 55 year career. NBA commissioner over Adam Silver aptly described Albert as “The soundtrack” adding there is no voice more close associated with the league. Albert turns 80 on June 12th.

Albert’s conversation with George Ofman on “Tell me a story I don’t know” includes his thoughts on retirement and how the pandemic gave him a rehearsal for what that might be in store?

He also talks about his many NBA Finals, including 5 with Michael Jordan and the Bulls. Albert also discusses the now famous call of a Jordan basket when he described demonstrably, “Oh, a spectacular play by Michael Jordan!”

Albert remembers the famous OJ Simpson chase and how he handled it while doing the broadcast of an NBA finals game plus his many appearances on the David Letterman show.

As he prepares to retire Albert joked, “Now I’ll have the opportunity to hone my gardening skills and work on my ballroom dancing.
