This week, we slide into some really funny history with the Darien Scheme, an insane idea that led the Scottish, of all people, into trying to establish a medieval overland Panama Canal across the Darien Isthmus. Everything seemed to be stacked against them, from the land to the weather to other nations, and in the end, it was a catastrophe!
