This week on the Exciting & New podcast, Jason, Andy and Dana discuss the 1984 Neo-Noir Coen Brothers movie Blood Simple. This is the first time out for the Coen's and it shows. This movie looks like it had a budget of about $50, and if you belive some of the stories, that $50 was hard earned. We know the Coens will go on to do amazing things, and a Coen-rewatch is certainly in Andy's future, but this one seems more like a college film than a theatrical release. But we get a first-time Frances McDormand, a pre-Cheers Nick Tortelli (Dana knows him better as Mel Horowitz) and super creepy M. Emmet Walsh in all his sleazy goodness. Also, we will be releasing a special non-1984 movie this weekend that Jason has been begging us to do. Will all that hype, can it stick the landing? You'll have to listen and find out.
