Opie Cunningham directs Tom Hanks as the lovable loser who unknowingly falls in love with a mermaid. Johnny Candy stars as his perverted brother, and is the real star of this movie and we miss him every day. Daryl Hannah stars as the mermaid who gains legs when she is on land (this is how she fooled Tom Hanks in case you thought he was just ignoring her gigantic fin), and Eugene Levy, who is really having a bad week, tags along as the mermaid hunter. Was that his job? Cryptozoologist? Deep Sea diver? Moron Twin wrangler? Who knows, it hardly matters?
