At the time this episode is being released an investigation into the death of Lauren Smith-Fields has been opened and Bridgeport Police detectives Kevin Cronin and Angel Llanos have been placed on administrative leave due to a "lack of sensitivity to the public and failure to follow police policy" following their handling of Ms. Smith-Fields death. On February 4, 2022 BuzzFeed article noted "Since 2017, at least 14 people have filed complaints or lawsuits accusing the Bridgeport Police Department of civil rights violations, including excessive force and racial discrimination.". No arrests have been made but the investigation into the death of Lauren Smith-Fields is ongoing.
