This week, we are asking God to shine His Light in all the darkness we often experience.
Let us first read from Psalm 18:28,
You, LORD, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light.
Each one of us already has a lamp. Things we go through in life often the tendency to extinguish our lamps. The choices we make everyday can also stop our lamps from burning.
Keeping our lamps burning isn’t therefore an easy task. And, that’s why we need help from our God.
Being human and sinful, whether we like it or not, we find ourselves in darkness. But, the hope is that God can turn our darkness into light and make our lamps burn again.
Join us asking God to help us with all that today:
Heavenly Father,
I live in a world full of darkness as a result of our sinful nature as humans. But, your word is a lamp for my feet, and a light on my path. Your light shines in the darkness, and the darkness cannot overcome your light.
That is the source of my hope. Even as the darkness tries to hide me and make the light become like night around me, I know that darkness is never dark to you, God. You make the night shine like the day because darkness is as light to you. You are my light and salvation. You are the stronghold of my life. Your word gives me light today.
I believe in your light because through Christ you have made me a child of light. Thank you for making my lamp burn again and even more than ever. Thank you for turning any darkness, I face this week or later, into light. Praise be to God. Amen!
