This second week in December, we are asking God to help us be welcoming. Biblical hospitality is how we show to the world God’s love we now experience through faith in Christ.
Biblical hospitality is about choosing to rejoice with those who rejoice, and mourn with those who mourn.
We show hospitality by choosing to live in harmony with one another. We live in humility and associate with every human being God allows us to encounter on a daily basis.
Living in harmony with others also means we seek to live at peace with everyone. We do not take revenge, but bless everyone.
Let us ask God to help be welcoming according to His Word:
Heavenly Father,
Hospitality is a biblical value you want to me to embrace and show every single day of my life. What other way is there to live out my faith if not through being hospitable!
It’s easy said, but very difficult to practice hospitality in this society. That is why I pray today asking you to help me practice it on a daily basis. Help me share with the hungry or anyone who is in need. Open my eyes to see what is the best way to do it as you draw me closer to those who need help.
Enable me to love what is good, be self-controlled, upright, holy according to your Word today and always. I want to offer hospitality to every person I meet without grumbling. Allow me to see you in all people I encounter every single day that I will bless them even when they do not seem to like me.
Help me seek to live in harmony and live at peace with everyone. I will love every human you bring along my journey here on earth even it may be difficult to do it at times. I trust you will strengthen me through the power of the Holy Spirit to always bear the fruit of love, hope, peace, joy, generosity, and hospitality.
In Christ’s name, I pray. Amen.
