Description

This week, we’re asking God to grant us hope.

A reading from Psalm 42:11,
Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.

There are so many things that affect us on a daily basis. A lot of those things are unplanned, and we have no absolute control over them.

They just happen and have so much effect on our every day living.

This week, there will be other life’s events that will attempt to kill your joy, disturb your peace, and steal your hope.

The advice from the Psalter is that you do two things this week. First, choose to put your hope in God. Do not put it into people, stuff, or anything else rather than God alone.

The Psalter goes on to give us why we should do so: God is our Savior. The only One to save you from anything and anyone, it’s God.

God is your only source of hope. God is the one to deliver you. God is the one to help you. God is the one who gives you victory. God is the one to make you prosper no matter what!

Second, choose to praise God. God wants you to throw everything you face this week at the foot of the cross. Throw whatever seems impossible, and which is killing your hope, at God.

To praise God also means to acknowledge the unlimited power of God. You choose to focus on what God is able to do, and what God does always goes beyond our imagination and what we ask for.

Please, pray with us now,

Heavenly Father,

Life is tough at times, and often makes me feel hopeless. But, I know that in you there is hope, which does not have to do with what is happening to me right now.

Anything or anyone can affect my sense of hope because I sometimes rely on people or stuff. But, the hope I find in you does not depend on people or things. It depends on your love you have for me.

That is why I pray today asking that you help me receive that sense of hope and feel it more again. Give me a glimpse of what you have in mind for me.

What I am asking now is that Christ, you come and dwell in me because you in me, that’s the hope of glory. Let me see you. Let me feel you. Let me hear your gentle voice through the power of the Holy Spirit. Walk with me, Jesus, today, and always. In your name, I pray. Amen.

Thank you for joining us for prayer today. God bless you and see you next week!
