Sobriety is a long road. It’s the road that keeps on giving and keeps on going. It’s a journey that you must be present for. I never feel like I have it figured out. The moment I do that I’m done. Done as in over. Sobriety is the sort of present that you have to be ready to show up for every single day. Sobriety doesn’t care if you’re tired, anxious, depressed, or have PTSD. Sobriety wants you to stay clear. The challenges I face now being sober, are those that have to do with my thoughts. Clarity breeds organization. I do my best to stay clear so that I can be ready to tackle my own demons. Being sober helps me manage my demons. The demons never go away. They just go to sleep. And I don’t wake them up for nothing. I do check in on them and I do make sure that they are sleeping. I have to be careful which demons I feed and those that I don’t. Don’t wake the sleeping bear. That’s what I tell myself. That’s how I stay sober. Will I ever have a drink again in my lifetime? I know I won’t have one today. One day at a time is all I can afford at this moment. I know you have many choices in the podcast world so thank you so much for being here with me today. I appreciate you, your time and energy.
