Clothing has long been one of America's most popular budget spending items. Unfortunately, much of these garments are produced overseas in countries like Bangladesh, Myanmar, India, and China- where labor is often much cheaper than in developed countries like the United States. As a result, shoppers in the US are able to find clothes at incredibly low prices, due to the low wages being paid in the factories supplying these clothes. In this episode I review America's dependence on the import apparel market and the global effect it has on wages for workers in poor areas of the world.
