As the gun debate in America continues to rage, a new and growing threat is emergent: ghost guns. Put simply, ghost guns are homemade or improvised firearms, constructed from a variety of parts, and made untraceable by the lack of a serial number. Ghost guns can be made at home or purchased in parts. Thanks to the internet, a would-be gunsmith can easily purchase and assemble an AR-15-style frame that can then be fit with various components, such as a barrel, sights, grips and triggers. Ghost guns can also be made with 3D printers and even build your own gun kits. The result is a firearm that has no serial number attached to it and is completely untraceable. Such firearms allow criminals to purchase weapons without fear of any repercussions from the law.
In this episode of The Peoples Voice i discuss ghost guns, the danger they present, challenges with stopping them and solutions to slow down their distrubution.
