The rise of online shopping has been a convenience for many, however it has also opened the door for criminals to take advantage of consumers. One of the more recent ills that consumers are facing is “porch pirating” Porch pirating occurs when a package is delivered to a porch or mail box and is stolen by someone else. The rise in porch pirating is a direct result of the sharp increase in online shopping. While many retailers offer tracking and delivery notifications, these services do not always ensure security when a package is delivered. In many cases, the package is left in the open, inviting theft.
In this episode I review porch pirating, where its occurring, what is being done and how to prevent it.
