The prevalence of dialysis centers in Black neighborhoods is a reality that cannot be dismissed as just a coincidence. The numbers speak for themselves and studies show that these communities have a disproportionately high number of dialysis centers compared to predominantly white neighborhoods. This raises serious concerns about equitable access to healthcare and the impact of systemic racism in the kidney disease care and transplant process. In this episode I discuss those disparities and some of their causes.
