Jaime Echenique is a Colombian professional basketball player currently signed with the Capital City Go-Go in the NBA G League. Originally growing up in Barranquilla, Colombia, he attended JED Pestalozzi and led his team to four straight regional championships. As a junior and senior, Echenique was named region MVP. Intending to play college basketball in the United States, Echenique joined an amateur club in MedellĂn and, two months later, a club in Bogotá that had international connections helped him to fly to the U.S. He would go on to play for the Trinity Valley Community College Cardinals and the Wichita State Shockers. After graduating, he joined the Capital City Go-Go as an affiliate player before signing a 10-day contract with the Washington Wizards, making him the first Colombian-born player in NBA history.
