Mat wanders around the Tower grounds, trying to assess whether or not he can escape the grip of the Aes Sedai. He runs into Lanfear again, this time she's masquerading as Else Grinwell, but she's not interested in talking. Eventually, he comes upon the warder training grounds, and challenges Gawyn and Galad to a bet on a sparring match. Mat, of course, thumps both of them, at the same time. Everyone likes seeing those two humbled, especially by a farmer with a quarter staff.
