The Hunters three visit Mat in his sick bed. Mat's discomfort with anyone being able to channel is something he never gets over. We talk about power dynamics between the genders in the Wheel of Time, and how channeling affects male/female dynamics. After a good deal of dissembling, the women had Mat one of their special writs from the Amyrlin, and send him off to deliver a letter from Elayne to Queen Morgase. This is his ticket out of Tar Valon.
