Remember that short conversation between Rand and Thom at Barthanes’ party? Galldrian sure did. He sent men to investigate Thom, who end up killing Dena. Thom kills them and Galldrian, Barthanes is assassinated mysteriously at the same time, it looks like the work of a Golem. Someone fired Galldrian's granaries as well, possibly Barthanes. This throws Cairhien into chaos, and civil war, sets Thom on a path to better protect Rand’s assets in the future, and opens up the East for eventual consolidation under the Dragon’s banner. Fain hands over the horn and dagger to High Lord Turak. They have a fascinating interaction.
