Late Christmas Eve night (or early Christmas morning,) 1916, Thomas Murphy, proprietor of the Hotel Denmark in Dover New Jersey, was awakened by a scratching at his door. He went to investigate, only to find his houskeeper, Lillian Green, AKA "Else" Green, on the floor, naked and terribly burned. "My dear, your burned!" Murphy exlaimed. "Only scorched," Miss Green replied, and died on the spot. The authorities suspect foul play...
