Poverty, climate change, human rights abuses – the news cycle is full of seemingly  insurmountable global challenges that leave many of us feeling powerless and pessimistic. Yet every  day, we all consume products that inevitably have a real impact on these social and environmental  threats, for better or worse. This raises some fundamental questions for humanity: what is the role of business in promoting sustainability and social progress? Can ethical sourcing effectively address some  of the world’s most pressing challenges? Can it also be profitable for business? What are ways in which consumers can engage, vote with their dollars for a better world, and reward the sustainable brands that are driving change?
Paul Rice, founder of Fair Trade USA, has spent nearly four decades building a movement to answer these questions and change the world through business. Paul joined Mike Pomp on the Morning Information Center to chat abou Fair Trade and the new book.
