In 2009 the first image of Slenderman was released as a submission for a Photoshop contest on an internet forum. Its creator Eric Knudsen could not have known the photos he created for a contest would turn into an internet sensation that would be known as Slenderman. The creation of this character inspired many movies, video games and even murder plots.
