Acid reflux is a disease in which stomach acid repeatedly flows back into esophagus. In simpler words it is the condition in which acid containing contents in your stomach leak back into the food pipe. Gastroesophageal reflux disease(GERD) is the term used for persistent acid reflux.
It is normal to experience it at some point but if you are experiencing it more than twice a week and continue to happen over a period of several weeks then it is possible that you have developed GERD.

These negative emotions increase the acid production in your stomach and affect the working of lower esophageal sphincter muscle. It can affect the muscles around the stomach and increase the pressure in the organ and push the acid up.
