Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem

Mawlana Shaykh Nazimق narrated an inspiring story of sincerity in hisق sohbah from the early 1980’s, of an elderly European lady who traveled for miles to take baya’ with Grandshyakh Abdullah Faiz Ad-Dagestaniق.

In hisق sohbah Mawlanaق said that this blessed mureed, despite her old age, had travelled to Damascus sincerely seeking guidance from Grandshaykh. Her goal was to become from the fortunate few who experienced true freedom from slavery of the ego. She sought to live her destined duties in life and reach to servanthood in Allah’s ﷻ Pleasure.

After consultation with the Holy Prophetﷺ, Grandshaykhق was instructed to introduce Islam with leniency and gentleness to her and to all new believers. The key is to make it easy to fall in love with Allah’s ﷻ Way. There is no harshness in delivering the message of Islam to newcomers.

The instruction for new Muslims to begin establishing a relationship with Allah (Hablum Minallah) and the Islamic community (Hablum Minannas) were basic. They are to simply practice a daily recitation of 3 Shahadah, prostrate (sujud) once during each prayer time and to keep love in their hearts for the Ummah, overlooking any of their shortcomings.

Shaykh Nazimق said that although the instructions are easier in comparison to the daily litanies and practices a born-Muslim performs, Mawlanaق emphasised that Allahﷻ is only looking to see sincerity in the heart of Hisﷻ servants. For as long as a servant fulfills the trust of Islam given with no self-conceit or self-praise, Allah’s Pleasure awaits.

Mawlanaق speaks of the gems of,

1️⃣ wisdom behind a seemingly simplified worshipping for a new comer and,

2️⃣ the secret of the acceptance of appointments/duties given by Allahﷻ to a person, in his sohbah.
