We're continuing our "Storytime with Maceo" series, with a focus on instilling a love of reading in neurodiverse learners. Because our son has autism and a speech delay, we use this platform to affirm and promote a love of reading for all children, neurotypical and neurodiverse alike.
Maceo enjoys listening to stories of all genres. He especially likes to read books that rhyme and books about orchestral music. We've experimented with reading aloud books related to Star Wars and Marvel to see if they pique his interest. They do. Because of this, today's episode is all about reading The Last Jedi.
Tanya, the producer of our podcast and channel, is reading to our son Maceo. She is a writer, a former English/Language Arts teacher, and has a Ph.D. in education. She is also a new member of the PEAL Center's board of directors, an organization that provides information and support to families, youth and young adults with disabilities and special health care needs to help them understand their rights and advocate for themselves.
