So I had convinced myself that I was done with the lake. I had not been to the lake in eight months. It's Been a long time and I kind of convinced myself that I didn't need it anymore. That's because it just cost me money. I let other people stay there and all my friends were staying there and stuff like that. I'm not making any money on it. I'm just spending money. So I had to sit down with my accountant and sit down with people that advise me and say, You know what? You're not using it like you want to. You're gonna have to either Airbnb it or you need to sell it. So I'm like, Ugh, okay. That's what I'll do. It just seemed like the easiest thing to do was just to sell it. But, when I went this weekend... I remembered why I love it. It's funny because one of the people that stay there, Brandon, I told him, I finally went and he said, did you fall in love again? I said, yes, I did.
I think sometimes we leave practices. We leave things just because life gets busy and it's crazy and we want to take the easier route. We leave things that are good for us. We know what's best for us. We know that speaking, encouraging kind and loving words to others is the way to go. It is what God has modeled for us. It is what Christ modeled for us. That we speak with words of kindness and love and joy and peace and hope. That is what we do. We get away from that. We end up going to places we don't want to go.
When I was sitting on that porch this weekend and getting in my kayak and just looking at the peace and the beauty around me, listening to the birds, watching the squirrels flip to and fro, watching the leaves fall.. Y'all, it was pretty heavenly! So I know that I need more of that in my life.
I probably talk about the power of words more than any other thing I talk about. Because we have the power of death and life in our tongue. And it's not just for myself. It's not just for others. Our words create an energy around us. If I speak words of hope, encouragement, and love, guess what? I get more of that. But, if I speak words of ridicule and dismay, I get more of that.
My business is to lift, encourage.Even in my head, I might not think that's crazy wonderful. I need to encourage people. So my message today is I want us to focus on that today. I want us to maybe kneel before God and say, God, I need you to guard my mouth. I need you to guard my tongue. I need you to help with every single word I say. So, today be intentional and be with love and be with hope and encouragement. If it doesn't have those things, zip it! Don't even say it. So that's where I am today.
