Juneteenth became an official federal holiday in 2021, commemorating the end of slavery in the United States. “It’s not about freedom being given, it’s about freedom being proclaimed,” said T.J. Tallie. The director of Africana Studies at USD joined “At the Edge of It All” to talk about the holiday’s history and its future, as it becomes more widely-celebrated. He also explained how everybody can observe the holiday.
