Richard Ervin, Jr. retired on May 3, 2020 after 27years on the Danville, IL Fire Dept. He also worked 5 years for a private ambulance as a paramedic prior to that. A year after retirement he was diagnosed with bi-polar mania, anxiety, depression, PTSD and alcohol dependency and spent 38 days at the IAFF Center of Excellence. He now hopes that sharing his story will help raise awareness about mental health.
