This episode of the reading of "Cranford" by Elizabeth C. Gaskell will cover chapters 9 and 10. In chapter 9 the ladies of Cranford are excited about the arrival of Signor Brunoni, a traveling magician. Miss Pole is determined to prove that his magic is just a trick, while some of the other women are not so sure. In chapter 10 two robberies take place in Cranford, and the ladies are convinced that the town is being terrorized by French spies. The ladies take steps to protect themselves, but their fears soon prove to be unfounded.
