LISTEN | Morning Prayer - December 17, 2022 | Saturday of the Third Week of Advent
"Eleazar became the father of Matthan, Matthan the father of Jacob, Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary. Of her was born Jesus who is called the Christ." - Matthew 1:1-17
We begin, today, an “octave” of immediate preparation for the birth of Christ. After this octave, we enter into the glorious Solemnity of Christmas!
As we reflect on the genealogy of Jesus, we marvel once again that he has entered so fully into the human family, that he has taken our humanity, in order to share with us his own divine life. Because God has entered into the human family, a way is opened for us to enter into God's "family" - the eternal community of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. By faith and baptism, we are grafted onto a new family tree, the Body of Christ, the Church.
