Before he burst forth into song, Zechariah was struck mute for nine months because he failed to trust the word of the Angel Gabriel. But instead of turning to anger and despair, Zechariah listened, sought and understood the mystery that was before him: that his little child would be the one to prepare the immediate way for the Lord.
