LISTEN | Morning Prayer - December 27, 2022 | Feast of St. John, Apostle and Evangelist "The Lord is the King of apostles: come, let us adore him." - Invitatory antiphon, Lauds
On the third day of Christmas, we celebrate the Feast of St. John the Apostle, brother of James, sons of Zebedee, nicknamed "the sons of thunder." He calls himself the "beloved disciple" not because he was well-loved by the Church but to his personal experience of being loved by Jesus Christ. In his proclamation of the gospel, John does not proclaim himself but Christ, who is the Word of Life. He wants people to have the joy of knowing that each of us is a "beloved disciple". If we know this, then John has fulfilled his mission as an evangelist - and his joy is complete. How have you personally experienced God's love? How are you proclaiming it? Join the universal prayer of the Church with the ancient tradition of the Office of Lauds. Listen, share and subscribe to Tuesday's Morning Prayer here: https://anchor.fm/dailymorningprayer
