Today is August 3rd
Grace to all who love our Lord Jesus Christ with an undying love.
Take a moment and quiet yourself. Take a deep breath. Welcome God’s presence. And say, “Come Holy Spirit.”
Today’s reading is from Psalm 84.
10 Better is one day in your courts
than a thousand elsewhere;
I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God
than dwell in the tents of the wicked.
11 For the LORD God is a sun and shield;
the LORD bestows favor and honor;
no good thing does he withhold
from those whose walk is blameless.
As you come to prayer today, consider what it means to be able to draw near to God. The Psalmist is praising what it is like to be in the presence of God... in the temple courts... Take time right now to become aware that you are in the presence of God. Allow your perspective to be changed by that truth.
It is very normal for us, as we go about our day-to-day lives, to forget about God’s presence. To not be attentive to the truth that He is our sun – our light and warmth and provision.... and that He is our shield... our protection and strength. What feelings, thoughts, or worries might you need to release, right now, in order to be able to reorient yourself and your vision toward Christ?
Not only are we in God’s presence, the psalmist reassures us that God is the giver of good things. He bestows favor and honor to His people. How have you experienced God’s goodness in your life recently? Take time now to remember, and to cultivate gratitude in your heart to God.
