Description

Today is October 12

Grace to all who love our Lord Jesus Christ with an undying love.

Take a moment and quiet yourself. Take a deep breath. Welcome God’s presence. And say, “Come Holy Spirit.” Today’s reading is from Psalm 106.

1 Praise the LORD.
Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good;
his love endures forever.
2 Who can proclaim the mighty acts of the LORD
or fully declare his praise?
3 Blessed are those who act justly,
who always do what is right.
4 Remember me, LORD, when you show favor to your people,
come to my aid when you save them,
5 that I may enjoy the prosperity of your chosen ones,
that I may share in the joy of your nation
and join your inheritance in giving praise.

As we enter our time is reflection, consider why we take the time to be grateful to God. God knows what He has done, and this Psalm even asks, "Who can proclaim the mighty acts of the LORD or fully declare His praise?" If no one can praise God enough for all He's done, then why all the demand for praise? Does He need praise for His ego? Is He so insecure that he requires us to thank him constantly?

Is there a person in your life you can't thank enough? Someone you love because they did something important for you, like saved your life?

Or have you ever helped someone, truly out of the kindness of your heart, who never thanked you but would still do it again, because you did it in love? Thanking is easy, being thanked is a bonus, and It never hurts to be grateful. It doesn't have to cost anything but thought and a little effort.

Praising and thanking God can actually change the way you think and feel. Gratitude helps us think more positively, even when things go wrong. Many people find keeping a gratitude list inspiring. Today, as you go through your day, look for opportunities to show gratitude to both God and others. See if they respond with love.
