Today is September 7
Grace to all who love our Lord Jesus Christ with an undying love.
Take a moment and quiet yourself. Take a deep breath. Welcome God’s presence. And say, “Come Holy Spirit.”
Today’s reading is from Psalm 19.
7 The law of the LORD is perfect,
refreshing the soul.
The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy,
making wise the simple.
8 The precepts of the LORD are right,
giving joy to the heart.
The commands of the LORD are radiant,
giving light to the eyes.
9 The fear of the LORD is pure,
enduring forever.
The decrees of the LORD are firm,
and all of them are righteous.
The Psalmist uses some beautifully descriptive words here to describe the law of the Lord. As you enter into prayer today, reflect on these truths: that the law of the lord is…. perfect, refreshing, trustworthy. It’s right, radiant, and pure. God’s law is enduring, firm, and righteous.
The Psalmist knows something important about who God is, and about what God commands… and he is speaking this truth to all who can hear. In our world, the idea of God’s law is often seen as suspect. Irrelevant. Harsh. As you listen to this scripture again, would you examine your own feelings about God’s law? About the narrow way that Christ calls you to?
What do you look to, to refresh your soul? Is obedience to God’s word on the list? Talk to God right now about His instruction in your life. And listen for his voice of guidance… for that is the voice that will refresh your soul…
