- Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said he wasn't "aspiring" to be president, but he received a welcome worthy of an American political VIP on Monday in Japan, his first stop on a tour around the world. Walking into the Prime Minister's office holding hands with his wife, Casey DeSantis, Mr. DeSantis held a roughly 40-minute meeting with Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.

- The UN Secretary-General welcomed on Monday the temporary relocation of hundreds of staff members and their families from the Sudanese capital Khartoum, due to continuing intense fighting between rival military factions, which has now entered its second week.

- Walt Disney Co. began letting go of thousands of employees on Monday in the entertainment giant's ongoing push to cut about 7,000 jobs this year. This is the second of what's expected to be three rounds of cuts, Disney said in a statement.
