Qualifying for the Daytona 500 is over and yet again a Hendrick Motorsports car is on the pole for the 65th running of the Great American Race. It's the 9th consecutive year that an HMS powered car has taken the pole for this event. Does it put a damper into this qualifying session and does it really matter in the grand scheme of things? We spoke about that on this episode.  We also discussed how some teams and drivers performed well during Daytona 500 qualifying. Who shocked us? Who walked out of Wednesday's session satisfied and who walked out disappointed?  Plus two drivers, Jimmie Johnson and Travis Pastrana qualified themselves into the Daytona 500 via their qualifying speed on Wednesday night. Overall, Johnson was 23rd and Pastrana was 26th but it was fast enough for both to make the field. Zane Smith was the third fastest of the open cars and Austin Hill was fourth. The whole open car situation is broken down and discussed on who can make the 500 field.  Also, Kyle Busch's qualifying lap during the final 10 session was disallowed due to going below the yellow line. Did NASCAR get it right?  Finally, Alex Bowman and Daniel Suarez signed multi-year contract extensions with their current organizations. That gets broken down as well.
