Description

First, it's Greg Carey from MetroNews on WVU's big win over the weekend against Texas (6:30).

Then we take a break from sports. This time last year, the radio show was so new that we didn't have a podcasting platform set up yet. So I wanted to take this time to revisit a conversation from last year's MLK Jr. show: a conversation with Dr. Austin McCoy, a historian at WVU focusing on African-American history. That conversation is the main chunk of this extended episode (24:32). Dr. McCoy discusses a myriad number of topics, including the roots of the Civil Rights Movement stretching as far back as the 18th century, the work done by those to bring the movement to the point in time when Dr. King came into prominence, and how popular culture has portrayed the Civil Rights Movement some 60 years later.

This conversation occurred January 16, 2023.
