The television show Yellowjackets introduces us to a girl’s soccer team at a New Jersey high school on their way to nationals in a privately chartered plane that crashes.
What we know from the start is the girls survived for 19 months in the wilderness before being rescued, doing some very extreme things that we the viewer are not yet privy to.
Though Yellowjackets isn’t based off actual events it does draw from many true life tales of survival, several stories both fact and fiction of women in the wilderness and even some myths and legends. In part one of this episode, we explore real life survivor stories worthy of appointment viewing.
