I let both this song and yesterday’s kind of come to me while I was laying in bed in the morning.
I didn’t realize until a few hours after I published it that my song today had the exact same melody as yesterday. Oops! I used to spend lots of time worrying that my melodies had slipped into my mind from some other song I knew, and trying hard to make them sound unique. In favor of letting the music flow, I have stopped doing that. Perhaps it’s time to find a balance… and at least try to remember if I just wrote this same melody the day before :)
“I’m not afraid of the night,
Lead me to the dark.
Bring what’s hidden to life,
This is where we start:
Transform all that’s about to fall.
What’s new is in the heart of what’s gone.
In the heart of what’s gone,
In the heart of what’s gone.
Soften the crust of the ground,
Let it fall apart,
Making soil to bury,
To build and to grow.
Transform all that’s about to fall.
What’s new is in the heart of what’s gone.
In the heart of what’s gone,
In the heart of what’s gone.
Soften the crust round your heart,
You can fall apart.
We will grieve all together,
And dance our ancient song.
Transform all that’s about to fall.
What’s new is in the heart of what’s gone.
In the heart of what’s gone,
In the heart of what’s gone.”
