Story Transcript:
El: Ο Αλέξης κοίταξε τα μαύρα σύννεφα που έρχονταν απειλητικά από τη θάλασσα.
En: O Alexīs looked at the threatening black clouds coming from the sea.
El: Βρισκόταν στη Σαντορίνη, στο σπίτι της γιαγιάς του, όπου κάθε Άνοιξη γιορτάζουν την Ορθόδοξη Ανάσταση με μεγάλες γιορτές.
En: He was in Santorinē, at his grandmother's house, where every Spring they celebrate the Orthodox Resurrection with grand festivities.
El: Όμως, φέτος, τα πάντα φαινόταν ότι θα χαθούν κάτω από τη βροχή.
En: However, this year, everything seemed like it would be lost under the rain.
El: Ο Αλέξης είχε έρθει από την Αθήνα με σκοπό να βοηθήσει στην οικογενειακή παράδοση: να ψήσουν το αρνί για την Πασχαλινή γιορτή.
En: O Alexīs had come from Athēna with the purpose of helping with the family tradition: to roast the lamb for the Easter celebration.
El: Ήξερε ότι οι προσδοκίες ήταν μεγάλες.
En: He knew that the expectations were high.
El: Το τελευταίο που ήθελε ήταν να απογοητεύσει τη γιαγιά, τον παππού, τους θείους και όλους τους άλλους μέλη της οικογένειας.
En: The last thing he wanted was to disappoint his grandmother, grandfather, uncles, and all the other family members.
El: «Θα τα καταφέρουμε,» είπε στον Θέο, τον ξάδελφό του, ενώ έψαχνε τρόπους να προστατεύσει το ψήσιμο από τη καταιγίδα.
En: "We'll manage," he said to Theō, his cousin, while he was searching for ways to protect the roasting from the storm.
El: «Ο καιρός θα περάσει.
En: "The weather will pass."
El: »Δίπλα τους, η Ελένη, αδερφή του Θέου, κοιτούσε ανήσυχη.
En: Next to them, Elenē, Theō's sister, watched anxiously.
El: «Αλέξη, αν δεν σταματήσει η βροχή, τι θα κάνουμε;
En: "Alexī, if the rain doesn't stop, what will we do?"
El: » ρώτησε, καθώς μια ριπή ανέμιξε τα μαλλιά της.
En: she asked, as a gust of wind mixed her hair.
El: «Θα φτιάξουμε καταφύγιο!
En: "We'll make a shelter!"
El: » αποκρίθηκε ο Αλέξης με αυτοπεποίθηση.
En: Alexīs replied confidently.
El: Ο Θέος του χαμογέλασε, υποστηρίζοντας τον, και οι δύο άρχισαν να μαζεύουν ξύλα και πανιά.
En: Theos smiled at him, supporting him, and the two began gathering wood and cloths.
El: Με βοήθεια από την Ελένη, κατασκεύασαν ένα προσωρινό καταφύγιο γύρω από το πυρ.
En: With help from Elenē, they built a temporary shelter around the fire.
El: Ο άνεμος δυνάμωνε, η βροχή έπεφτε με μανία και το αυτοσχέδιο καταφύγιο φαινόταν να μην αντέχει.
En: The wind was strengthening, the rain was falling furiously, and the makeshift shelter seemed not to withstand.
El: Ο Αλέξης προσπαθούσε διαρκώς να το ενισχύσει, ελπίζοντας ότι η φωτιά θα μείνει ζωντανή.
En: Alexīs was constantly trying to reinforce it, hoping that the fire would stay alive.
El: Η οικογένεια παρακολουθούσε με αναμμένη αγωνία.
En: The family watched with lit anxiety.
El: Οι στιγμές φάνηκαν αιώνες μέχρι που σιγά-σιγά η φωτιά έκανε το θαύμα της.
En: The moments felt like ages until slowly the fire did its miracle.
El: Το αρνί ψήθηκε.
En: The lamb was roasted.
El: Οι σταγόνες άρχισαν να πεθαίνουν και η καταιγίδα υποχώρησε, αφήνοντας τον κόσμο γεμάτο ευγνωμοσύνη.
En: The raindrops started to die, and the storm subsided, leaving everyone full of gratitude.
El: Ο Αλέξης ένιωσε κάτι διαφορετικό μέσα του.
En: Alexīs felt something different inside him.
El: Είχε καταφέρει όχι μόνο να σώσει το Πάσχα, αλλά και να επανασυνδεθεί με τις ρίζες του, τις παραδόσεις του.
En: He had managed not only to save Easter but also to reconnect with his roots, his traditions.
El: Όλοι μαζεύτηκαν γύρω από το τραπέζι, κάτω από τη στέγη που έχτισε ο Αλέξης με τα χέρια του.
En: Everyone gathered around the table, beneath the shelter that Alexīs had built with his hands.
El: Η κάθε μπουκιά, το κάθε γέλιο, ήταν δοξασία της επιμονής και ενότητας τους.
En: Every bite, every laugh, was a celebration of their persistence and unity.
El: Και εκείνος ένιωθε πως είχε πια κερδίσει μια νέα θέση, μέρος της διασυνδεμένης κληρονομιάς του, σκάβοντας βαθύτερα στην καρδιά του τόπου και της οικογένειάς του.
En: And he felt as if he had now won a new place, part of his interconnected heritage, digging deeper into the heart of his place and his family.
