VIRTUE
- Virtue consists in proficiency in the practice of good works and the tendency of the will towards what is good, resulting from persevering exercise.
- It is only perfect virtue, i.e., those acts of virtue which are performed for the glory of God, which will be rewarded after death.
- Virtue can only be acquired and increased by dint of strug gle and self-conquest ; for many obstacles have to be encountered, inward hindrances, the evil proclivities of the human heart, and outward hindrances, the contempt and persecution of men.
- Virtue procures for us real happiness both in time and in eternity.
- Virtue makes us resemble God, and admits us to the friendship of God.
