For almost forty years, Dr. Brenda Manuel has been involved in education at many levels. Dr. Manuel started her career as a middle school teacher’s assistant, then moved on to become a teacher, counselor, dean and administrator. As an administrator, Dr. Manuel worked as an Assistant Principal at the middle and high school levels as well as an Elementary Literacy Coach Coordinator, Elementary Principal, Local District Administrator of Instruction and Local District Superintendent. Dr. Manuel is currently the Director of the Student Involvement, Development and Empowerment Unit for the Los Angeles Unified School District. Dr. Manuel is a researcher, professional developer, workshop presenter, curriculum developer, adjunct professor and a student advocate.
