Director Damien Chazelle (Whiplash, La La Land) takes on the very personal story of Neil Armstrong (Ryan Gosling) as he makes his way from pilot to the NASA program on his path to being the first man to set foot on the moon. The journey is a tightly shot, brutal exploration into what it takes to achieve your goals and how easily life can't seemingly break a man during that journey. Anchoring Armstrong back to Earth is his steadfast, non-shrinking violet wife, Janet Shearon (Claire Foy) who makes it clear that in order to be a true hero of history, one needs to remain connected to one's humanity while even aiming for the stars.
