Andrew and Zak invite Dr. Patrick Newman onto The LEGACY Right to discuss the topic of American cronyism, diving into the early days of the United States in his struggle between libertarian ideals and the corruption of power. This span on Dr. Newman's book titled, "Cronyism: Liberty versus Power in Early America, 1607-1849". From the clash of the centrist Hamiltonians with the radical revolutionaries such as Jefferson and Patrick Henry for which even they could not escape the absolutism of power. The libertarian movement fought hard to supplant the "federalist" monopoly of control for the special interests of a few leading up to the Jacksonian takeover of the nation. But even the libertarians could not withstand the allure of the one ring of absolution and power. The imperialism and the centralization upon the market was molded heavily by the shining star of the United States constitution. We also learn that Patrick intends on this work to be a project leading up into modern times and is currently writing the second part, so stay tuned. Honorable mentions include Lysander Spooner, Fredriac Bastiat and Grover Cleveland as well as the Roosevelts. Be sure to cop your copy as an ebook download on Mises.org or head to Amazon to purchase Patrick's masterpiece. History needs to be taught the right way because we know it isn't being taught in government schools. You can find and follow Patrick on Twitter @DrPatrickNewman.
