The legacy of Robert Cornish is that of all human beings attempting to figure the difference between life and death. Cornish, out of the University of California, Berkeley in the 1930s set forth in pursuit of ever changing possibilities to bring life back from the brink of death. He succeeded, at least for a moment with his experiment with two dogs in which he named Lazarus IV and Lazarus V. Through his successful trials, he went to the state of California for permission, upon voluntary verbal contract, to take on the feat of resurrecting a death inmate after execution. California deny him arguing that “double jeopardy” would apply if he were successful. From that failed request, Cornish essentially would descend into the footnotes of history, wasting his genius away manufacturing and selling toothpaste for his remaining career. The State tends to latch onto innovating discoveries only if it is profitable for them in their schemes of monopolized violence. As for Cornish, he was forced to capitulate into mundane society. Unlike Cornish, another brilliant “man of science”, Elon Musk, has not. Elon has used the influence of the welfare state to public ally finance his projects such as his Tesla acquisition and SpaceX, his “private” NASA expansion. He states he repays those “grants” and “tax breaks” back, but why should he or anyone whom addresses they are for the “free market” utilize the public tit of the State? Would it not be best to use the idea of nomadic capitalism as a means to find a place in the world where you are welcomed without threat of robbery to pursue your course toward human ingenuity? To practice one’s negative rights without contingency? And speaking of such, where so we think Elon stands with the idea of negative rights? Join us as we discuss the hypocrisy of the State, of Elon and the modern technological advancements that came quite possibly due to Cornish. This is the Legacy Right!
