My guest Monica with Lil' Bits of Mona shares with us how her humble business began making string art signs for her home, and as gifts. Before she knew it some teachers loved what she had, and she then found herself working at church events, festivals and now art shows or leading staff development workshops. Monica loves "Helping people get in touch with their creative side." Whether it is ready-made signs or kits they can create by themselves, or a totally complete do it yourself workshop for a group, she is sure to have what you are looking for!

Coming together and bonding over learning something new, these creative connections begin flowing while pounding nails into wood. This simple task helps break down barriers and connections can form. Stepping back and listening to the pounding is in some ways therapeutic.

Emotionally speaking “the physicality of hammering helps to get aggression out” while you are getting in touch with your creative side, the stringing becomes so soothing” it is truly a rewarding experience.

Between stringing the loops together and trying to create an image, breathing is a great technique to get the job done. This exercise is sure to incorporate all your senses as you create a one-of-a-kind piece.

Listen as Monica shares her tips on how to start string art for yourself, how you can get your own kit or how to organize a workshop near you.
