If you're not from the UK, and of a certain age, this is probably a new story for you.But it's a pretty crazy one.The Late Late Breakfast Show aired on the BBC in the early 80s but actually came out on Saturday nights. It was a variety show and kind of like the early days of David Letterman. One of the big draws to the show was putting regular citizens into death-defying, movie-level type stunts. You can obviously see what a bad idea this was, but nothing was off-limits in the quest for higher ratings. It all ended in tragedy in 1986.I won't share too much more as all the details are in the episode, but what happened would lead to network reform in the UK and around the world that is still followed to this day.
