Cs: Noční ticho na Karlově mostě bylo občas přerušeno cinkáním zvonků malého tramvaje v dálce.
En: The quiet of the night on the Karlův most was occasionally interrupted by the chiming bells of a small tram in the distance.
Cs: Listy spadané na můstku lehce ševelily, zatímco lampy osvětlovaly jejich barevnou krásu.
En: Fallen leaves on the bridge rustled gently, while the lamps illuminated their colorful beauty.
Cs: Jakub seděl pod jedním obloukem mezi sochami svatých s nadějí, že se i toho večera podaří něco prodat.
En: Jakub sat under one of the arches between the statues of saints, hoping to sell something that evening.

En: She wandered through Europe, contemplating and looking for what inspired her.

En: She saw Jakub's drawings and stopped for a moment.
Cs: "Možná tento mladík má odpovědi," přemítala skepticky.
En: "Maybe this young man has the answers," she mused skeptically.
Cs: Náhle začalo pršet.
En: Suddenly, it began to rain.
Cs: Kapky ihned změnily lesklou kamennou cestu v kluzkou skluzavku.
En: The drops instantly turned the shiny stone path into a slippery slide.
Cs: Jakub se ukrýval pod svým deštníkem.
En: Jakub sheltered under his umbrella.
Cs: Uvažoval, jestli se má vrátit domů.
En: He was contemplating whether to return home.
Cs: Ale pak zahlédl Veroniku, která se váhavě blížila k jeho stanovišti.
En: But then he spotted Veronika, who was hesitantly approaching his spot.
Cs: "Chcete si nechat nakreslit portrét?" Jakub nabídl přes hluk deště.
En: "Would you like to have your portrait drawn?" Jakub offered through the noise of the rain.
