Story Transcript:
Cs: V horkém letním dni, kdy slunce svítilo z jasné oblohy, gymnázium ve středu města ožilo ruchem a bzukotem voličů.
En: On a hot summer day, when the sun shone from a clear sky, the high school in the center of the city buzzed with the activity and hum of voters.
Cs: Lidé postávali v řadách, někteří netrpělivě podupávali botami, jiní si tiše povídali.
En: People stood in lines, some tapping their feet impatiently, others chatting quietly.
Cs: Mezi nimi byl i mladík jménem Tomáš, jehož ruka se lehce chvěla, když držel volební lístek.
En: Among them was a young man named Tomáš, whose hand trembled slightly as he held the ballot.
Cs: "Je to tvůj první volební den?"
En: "Is it your first voting day?"
Cs: zeptala se Jana, jeho přítelkyně, která ho přišla podpořit.
En: asked Jana, his girlfriend, who had come to support him.
Cs: Byla to žena s jiskrou v očích a úsměvem, který dokázal rozzářit i nejtemnější den.
En: She was a woman with a sparkle in her eyes and a smile that could brighten even the darkest day.
Cs: "Ano," přikývl Tomáš, nervózně si mnouc čelo.
En: "Yes," Tomáš nodded, nervously rubbing his forehead.
Cs: "Nechci udělat žádnou chybu."
En: "I don't want to make any mistakes."
Cs: U stolu se sčítaly lístky a Marek, starší pán s přátelským úsměvem, sledoval Tomáše s pobavením.
En: At the table, ballots were being counted, and Marek, an older man with a friendly smile, watched Tomáš with amusement.
Cs: "Lenže, Tomáši, ve státě je dovoleno hlasovat jen jednou," zvolal Marek žertovně, když viděl, jak Tomáš dvakrát zasunul lístek do urny.
En: "But, Tomáš, in the state, you're only allowed to vote once," Marek called out jokingly when he saw Tomáš slide the ballot into the box twice.
Cs: Tomáš zbledl.
En: Tomáš turned pale.
Cs: "To jsem nechtěl!"
En: "I didn't mean to!"
Cs: vykřikl, oči rozšířené strachem.
En: he shouted, eyes wide with fear.
Cs: "Co teď?"
En: "What now?"
Cs: "Ach, Tomáši, klid," řekla Jana s šibalským úsměvem.
En: "Oh, Tomáš, calm down," said Jana with a mischievous smile.
Cs: "Marek jen žertoval.
En: "Marek is just teasing.
Cs: Je to lasička na vtipy."
En: He's a trickster with jokes."
Cs: Marek se hlasitě zasmál, jeho smích rozléhal po místnosti.
En: Marek laughed loudly, his laughter echoing through the room.
Cs: "Promiň, mladíku, nemohl jsem odolat."
En: "Sorry, young man, I couldn't resist."
Cs: Nadále se usmíval, ale laskavě poplácal Tomáše po rameni.
En: He continued smiling, kindly patting Tomáš on the shoulder.
Cs: Tomáš chtěl nejprve utéct, ale Jana ho zadržela.
En: Tomáš wanted to flee at first, but Jana held him back.
Cs: "Pojď, pojďme se na to podívat a zjistit, co dělat dál."
En: "Come on, let's check it out and see what to do next."
Cs: Přiblížili se k jednomu z volebních komisařů, sympatickému muži s vytrvalým klidem ve výrazu.
En: They approached one of the election commissioners, a sympathetic man with a persistent calmness in his expression.
Cs: "Co se tu děje?"
En: "What's happening here?"
Cs: zeptal se s úsměvem.
En: he asked with a smile.
Cs: Tomáš nesměle vysvětlil situaci a čekal vzrušeně na rozsudek.
En: Tomáš shyly explained the situation and waited anxiously for the verdict.
Cs: Komisař se usmál a uklidnil ho.
En: The commissioner smiled and reassured him.
Cs: "To je v pořádku, stává se to častěji, než byste si myslel.
En: "That's okay, it happens more often than you might think.
Cs: Máme na to systém, váš hlas bude zaznamenán správně."
En: We have a system for this; your vote will be recorded correctly."
Cs: Tomáš vydechl úlevou a otočil se k Janě, která ho úspěšně rozptylovala svými vtipy.
En: Tomáš exhaled with relief and turned to Jana, who successfully distracted him with her jokes.
Cs: I Marek uznal, že jeho malý trik byl úspěšný a poprosil o odpuštění.
En: Even Marek admitted that his little trick was successful and asked for forgiveness.
Cs: "Takže svět nekončí," poznamenal Tomáš, když odcházeli z gymnázia.
En: "So the world isn't ending," remarked Tomáš as they left the high school.
Cs: "Možná jsem se trochu přehnal."
En: "Maybe I overreacted a bit."
Cs: "Naučil ses něco nového," odpověděla Jana se smíchem.
En: "You learned something new," Jana replied with a laugh.
Cs: "A ještě k tomu – vtipy dělají svět lepším místem."
En: "And besides - jokes make the world a better place."
Cs: Tomáš se usmál, pocit úlevy ho zanechal s pocitem, že příště to bude o něco snazší.
En: Tomáš smiled, the feeling of relief left him with the sense that next time would be a bit easier.
Cs: Pochopil, že i když se udělá malá chyba, nic opravdu hrozného se neděje.
En: He realized that even if a small mistake is made, nothing truly terrible happens.
Cs: A s přáteli po boku byl vždy připraven znovu čelit jakékoli výzvě.
En: And with friends by his side, he was always ready to face any challenge again.
